Overview
alabama.gov is a service of Alabama Interactive. Alabama Interactive offers state and local entities the expertise to automate routine, time-consuming tasks into interactive web-enabled applications for both citizens and businesses, saving taxpayer dollars as well as streamline government processes.
In November
of 2005, the State of Alabama awarded a state contract to Alabama
Interactive for eGovernment services to agencies, commissions, boards,
etc. for the State of Alabama. The contract is for a term of two
years and provides for two renewal periods; one of of two years and
one of one year at the option of the State for a total
of five (5) years.
The contract provides for the following services: transaction processing between
the State of Alabama and its citizens over the Internet, Interactive Voice Response
(IVR) processing, credit card processing, application development, integration
with agency's existing systems, security, application hosting, application support
and management reporting.
The State's eGovernment services provides for the following:
- The ability for state government to send requested information or documents
electronically to multiple devices;
- The ability for state government to process interactive applications for
licenses, permits and other government documents, to sell goods and services
by interactive applications and to receive documents for filing from the
public, businesses, employees and local governments who are regulated by
a state agency that, when a signature is necessary, can be electronically
signed by the requesting authority; and
- The ability for state government to receive required payments electronically.
Services provided under this contract include:
- Customizable applications and/or applications developed for State agencies
that provide electronically delivered services and information (i.e. eGovernment)
to the citizens, businesses, employees and local governments of Alabama;
- Assistance to the State in marketing the State's eGovernment applications
in a variety of ways to increase utilization of the services it offers;
- Optional hosting of agency eGovernment applications in an environment that
is reliable and secure; and
- Providing customer support to users and agencies.
Alabama Interactive is a wholly owned subsidiary of NIC Inc. based in Olathe,
Kansas.

Alabama Interactive can develop web-enabled applications to streamline processes for both staff and citizens by utilizing state-of-the-art IT resources that incorporate the latest encryption technology to ensure privacy and security.
The fees for Alabama Interactive services are based solely on each application and will be negotiated before any development begins. Typically, for electronic commerce applications, a nominal percentage will be extracted from transaction fees or paid by the end users for development, maintenance and credit card fees.

As the state of Alabama's partner for online government services, we may have charged your card on behalf of an Alabama State Agency. If you have recently completed a transaction with state Agency, please refer to the receipt that you printed.
